BIOGRAPHY


 MARIANA PARMA

Mariana Parma is an Actor/ Professional Dancer/ Instructor/ Choreographer, and Bilingual- Spanish/ English speaker based in NYC.  She is an acclaimed performer, featured on stage, tv and film.  She is recognized for her passion and versatility in both dance, and acting, resulting in a breathtaking and sensational performance.  She is a graduate from Rutgers University, Douglass College with a BA in Dance and Communication.

Mariana had the great fortune of  booking her first feature film role in "Random Hearts," directed by the late Sidney Pollack starring Harrison Ford.  

Mariana's film/tv credits include, Isn't it Romantic, directed by Todd Strauss-Schulson, The Blacklist directed by Andrew McCarthy, The Sopranos, directed by Steve Buscemi, Random Hearts directed by Sidney Pollack, to name a few.  

Her theater credits include, The Bitter Tears of Petra Van Kant, supporting role Sidonie, Comida de Putas, lead (Laluz), Tango Fever, (as the Lead Ana), Evita,(Featured Tango Dancer), Swing, the musical, (Featured Latin Track), Swango, Tango Por Ellos, Tango Connection, Romulo Larrea's Tango 1st Century, Roxanna's Tango, Glamour Tango, and numerous Tango and theater productions partnering with leading Tango dancers.

In Salsa she partners with the talented Mad Hot Ballroom star, Rodney Lopez, performance credits includes, Pier 54,  Lincoln Center Midsummer Nights, featured in the film, "The Big Shot Caller", and assisted Broadway choreographers on original musicals.  

As a choreographer, Mariana Parma, has choreographed a major Parle commercial in Mumbai, India, starring Bollywood star Roshan Hrithik. She taught and choreographed Chita Rivera in tango, for her role in Venecia, directed by the late award winning American Playwright, Author Laurents.  She is currently the choreographer of Glamour Tango, the first all women's Tango show in NYC, created by Polly Ferman.  

 

*Mariana Parma is the recipient of the 2013 Hola Award for Outstanding Achievement for Choreography for the production "Tango Fever".  She has coached the legendary Tommy Tune, and many other well known choreographers in tango.  She is also the 2008, USA Tango Champion, in Tango Salon, and a Semi- Finalist in the Mundial de Baile de Tango, in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Mariana Parma, currently performs and teaches in NYC and abroad.
